REDWAY, CA - High Times Productions, the event-management team for High Times Media in partnership with the Mateel Community Center, announced new lineup additions for this year’s iconic Reggae on the River festival which will be held on August 3-5, 2018 in Piercy, CA (near Garberville in Southern Humboldt County) and includes music and camping.

Reggae legends Israel Vibration will join Iration, Mavado, Morgan Heritage, Busy Signal, The Original Wailers, Arrested Development, Don Carlos, Bambaata Marley, Cham, Wailing Souls, and Hempress Sativa, who will perform across the three-day gathering. More artists are yet to be announced.

General Admission, VIP, and camping passes are on sale via the eggae on the River websit.

Through a strategic partnership announced earlier this year, High Times has joined forces with the Mateel Community Center to elevate this cultural landmark to new heights. Providing both resources and direction, the cannabis icon will implement the best practices it has amassed through its years of successful event production to create a world-class experience for Reggae fans and the surrounding community.

“High Times is pleased to announce the inclusion of Iration, Mavado and Busy Signal as headliners of this legendary event,” said Adam Levin, CEO of High Times Media. He mentioned earlier, “This event is a cornerstone of the Northern California community, and High Times could not be more excited to help present this year’s festivities. This year’s show will be bigger and better than ever!”

The festival was birthed in 1984 as a fundraiser for the Mateel Community Center in Redway and held on land owned by the Arthur family. Originally, it was a one-day musical event to raise money to replace Mateel’s hall, which had been destroyed in a fire. This developing partnership with High Times has provided the center with resources to continue growing and expanding the festival’s reach.

High Times has assumed all responsibility for the upcoming festival’s talent lineup, marketing, and monetization efforts. The brand is also providing the Mateel Community Center with expertise from its long and successful production history, ensuring that the festival is on par with what the industry has come to expect from its premier brand.

High Times produces a series of Cannabis Cup events annually as well as several other lifestyle and music events tied to High Times magazine, the oldest and best-known brand in the business of legalized marijuana. Given their production chops, knowledge of the landscape, and successful history in both events and media, High Times was the perfect partner for the Mateel Community Center. “Reggae on the River marks an important step for High Times Production to manage a broader music event not explicitly tied to the legal cannabis industry,” Levin said.

The 60th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on January 28, 2018. Reggae fans are well versed in the Marley's capability to capture a global audience making them high contenders for a Grammy on a yearly basis.

'Chronology' has already solidified itself as a multi-genre album with Reggae overtones and one drop rhythms throughout and by this author's projection, will be a cornerstone of reggae music in the next decade.

Common Kings and J Boog perform to a younger, festival going fan base well versed in their discography and can sing every song word for word. The introduction of streaming statistics into Billboard chartings has helped these artists immensely.

The Royal Family of Reggae has been traversing the globe for decades and has been able to 'digitize' their music with EDM and Dubstep elements. Morgan Heritage won the Best Reggae Album Grammy last year with 'Strictly Roots'

Best luck to all nominees

About the festival:

The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival promotes "conscious" music. Conscious music is music with a message of peace and unity, which transcends the divisions of race and culture.

Over the past twenty three years we have endeavored to build a community where Conscious music, Roots music, and World music is embraced. Where bringing diverse people from many lands together in celebration yields more than just the sum of each individual present, but something much grander. At SNWMF people experience a unique sense of unity and belonging, a semi-utopian moment in time where love, generosity, joy and innocence can be reclaimed. We believe that music has the power to move mountains and change paradigms, and the phenomenal artists who have graced SNWMF stages over the past decade have imparted an overwhelmingly Positive force.

Munga Arrested on Murder Charges

Colloquially known as the 'Gangsta Ras', Munga has been charged with the murder. it is rumored that the victim is Mr. Vegas' nephew.

Munga Honorable is currently in police custody after cops named him as a person of interest in a murder case.
The dancehall deejay has maintained his innocence, but cops say they are probing a recent killing that they believe that the artist is linked to. “He is not worried,” Munga attorney Christopher Townsend said. “Of course, custody can be a little bit uncomfortable and he has indicated how uncomfortable he is, but he believes that in the end he will certainly be vindicated,” he said. My client maintains that he has nothing to hide and he has cooperated fully with the police. No charges have been brought against him and he is looking forward to returning to his music that he loves so much.”
Senior superintendent in charge of the St Andrew South Division, Arthur Brown, confirmed that Munga is currently in custody but no charges have been laid against him up until the time of this publication. Brown says that the “Flippin Rhymes” deejay is only a person of interest at this time. Back in 2015, Munga was attacked and chopped several times with a machete, but he released a statement calling for peace.
“Me close brethren send me a message with my favourite song that I wrote tattooed on his chest as an inspiration to me, and him say, ‘don’t fight fire with fire, don’t fight darkness with darkness,’ so revenge is not my forte,” Munga said.
