One of the most unique modern roots voices in Jamaica Samory I returns today with “Crown,” his brand new song accompanied with a lyric video (directed by Yannick Reid with animation by Solasink and Leopold Matthews).
On “Crown,” Samory I reinforces his Rastafarian philosophies and his militancy towards upholding his beliefs despite societal pressures against him. The song is a renunciation of the Babylon system as well as an assertion of black pride and dignity.
His sophomore album is anticipated to release later this year. Helmed by producer Winta James, the forthcoming LP will be released by James’ Overstand Entertainment in conjunction with Easy Star Records.
