Akae Beka - Heartbeat of a Dub
Words by Upmost PR
Recorded while on tour in the fall of 2018, this beautifully deliberate offering from reggae icon Vaughn Benjamin, the Akae Beka (Midnite) is something unique in his vast proverbial repertoire of songs and music.
"Heartbeat of a Dub" finds Akae Beka promoting the potent healing properties and high quality of reggae music, the importance of being among friends in a "social circle of a one" and freeing up the vibes to enjoy a moment of life in a reggae dance.
Produced by Zion I Kings, Heartbeat of a Dub delivers a steady, deep reggae groove charging through a bed of lush Rhodes Piano, Organs, synthesizers and ambient guitars. The release also includes an ambient live dub mix and a minimal dance hall remix from ZIK's Moon Bain, a.k.a. Digital Ancient.
The 3 versions are all presented with a rootical illustration from One Art of the Covenant - Ato Roberts. The image joyfully displays all the components necessary for a proper Twelve Tribes reggae dance - Music, Herbs, Rasta People and good vibrations.
Please fulljoy this latest offering from the late great, Honorable Vaughn Benjamin a.k.a. Akae Beka & Lustre Kings Productions.
For almost two decades, Lustre Kings Productions has become synonymous with modern roots reggae music and fostering burgeoning talent. The independent label has carved a name out for itself grounded in positive dancehall and reggae music. ‘Heartbeat of a Dub” delivers, slightly pushing the envelope of the dub reggae genre, introducing a fresh sound amongst a familiar roots feel, while remaining true to innovative musicianship.
Noah Powah - No Stress
Noah Powa has released a new single called "No Stress" which is a song ladies will appreciate, and might even include in their 'anthem' soundtrack.
The playful chune speaks for women who have their lives organized, their income consistent and goals set. This type of woman is not fighting over a man, and she is not accepting less than respect from her love interest. Noah delivers this message loud and clear on behalf of the ladies. In the chune he sing-jays: "gyal yuh nuh stress ova man do day / yuh look good and yuh bills dem pay / yuh nuh stress ova man / gyal yuh have ambition / tell ah idiot bwoy fih run weh...."
Sonically, Richard 'Shams' Browne, producer of the track, inserts playful energy (much like Noah's persona) through the song's chord progression, while keeping the bass line thick and heavy which runs the theme of the chune!

Chronixx - Same Prayer ft Kabaka Pyramid
Chronixx has shared the accompanying music video for his new single “Same Prayer” ft. Kabaka Pyramid. The music video is directed by Ivor McCray and was filmed in Jamaica.
Chronixx’s “Same Prayer” provides a pillar of strength and hope on a benediction that carries a universal message throughout life's ups and downs. Fellow Jamaican lyricist Kabaka Pyramid complements the song with a verse echoing his sentiment. Following “Dela Move”, “Same Prayer” is the second reveal from Chronixx’s upcoming second studio album Dela Splash, which is slated for release later this year. The Zion I Kings produced track is out now via Soul Circle Music.
The song rings true with today's tumultuous times, "There’s so much good in the world and still evil a lurk. In the darkness a night, Jah protect I and I from the ones who nuh care about the fact that we share the same air and the blood that we bleed is alike," Chronixx laments in the third verse. The powerful message follows in the chorus, "and when I troddin in the streets today, please Jah Jah never leave my side. And everyday the same prayer I say and I’m saying it one more time. Trodding in the streets I pray Jah Jah beg yuh please, never lef I an I, oh never leave I an I."
Chronixx explains, “Same Prayer is, in part, a prayer for the younger generation to reflect on internally. It’s also a reminder that there is a greater power directing things in the physical space. Instead of looking for solutions in our material lives, we can both reach out to this higher power and look deep within ourselves.”
