Press Release
New York, NY- Following the announcement of Romain Virgo’s upcoming album “LoveSick” on VP Records, a Valentines Week Radio Takeover is underway. Fans of the reggae crooner can listen to the radio stations below all week for a chance to win a download of his new album out on March 30th. The 17-track album takes listeners on a journey that explores every emotion felt when finding love, losing love and finding love again. In the many twists and turns of romance and relationships, Romain represents a young man who has experienced it all and now has a dynamic story to tell.
Executive produced by Niko Browne for Lifeline Music, with additional production by Sting International and Vikings Production, the album presents a new pop reggae sound traced with his signature lovers rock style woven throughout. The first single ‘Now’, released last Summer, was the introduction to an energetic dance groove on the Skank and Rave rhythm. Highly contagious, the song alludes to a transitional musical direction. On the other spectrum, “Trouble” is reminiscent of his popular songs “Soul Provider”, “Fade Away” and “Cry Tears For You”. The bluesy, smooth rhythm released in November, showcases the sick side of LoveSick, as he tells a tale of a woman who persists on breaking up his happy home after a one- night stand.
The latest single “Still” is a passionate ballad over the upbeat Skyspraper Riddim by Richie Stephens, a forthcoming video is expected in March. The album also includes Romain's stirring version of the Sam Smith smash “Stay With Me.” The song has become a fan favorite across the globe, rivaling popularity with the original version in Japan. The crooner will be embarking on a European tour at the end of March with special guest Sevana. The tour will include stops in Germany, The UK, Holland and Switzerland. He will be setting up U.S. dates later this year.
Raised in a disciplined home in the rural town of Stepney in the parish of St. Annes, Romain first gained fame when he made history as the youngest winner of Television Jamaica’s (TVJ) popular “Rising Stars” talent competition at just 17-years-old and later by winning Artist of the Year by JaRIA (Jamaica Reggae Industry Association) in 2012. Growing up listening to the likes of Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown and Percy Sledge, he has modeled his musical style and career after these legends while still remaining true to who he is. Passion drips through every lyric and every note, as listeners can feel the love for his craft.
“I believe love is the one thing that’s going to save us, not just in terms of relationships, but in the broader human sense,” Romain says of the album’s title and content. “I personally believe that nothing forms a stronger bond than love. It cuts through race, religion, creed, everything. We need to put it at the center of our lives.”
Long time we've supported Romain Virgo and wish him the best success on his upcoming album.
Jamaica, U.S.A (MPR Consulting) - On the heels January 13th memorable and exciting performance at renowned stage show Rebel Salute in Jamaica, International reggae star I-Octanehas premiered his new single "Pretty Loud" featuring two times nominated Reggae artist J Boog, and announced that he will join him for selected California tour dates.
The latter will be in support of I-Octane's anticipated third full length album titled "Love and Life", which is set to release on March 30th, 2018. Albeit much earlier performances will be announced, the California leg of J Boog's L.O.E tour will introduce reggae star I-Octane to new fans, and deliver a dose of Jamaica's steeped vibes to San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Fresno, Redway and Monterey.
Speaking on the song's inspiration, I-Octane explained "I was in the studio talking with my brethrens about how we see some beautiful women that never can keep a man, or always change men. We all know some of them that think that because they are beautiful, they should be treated a certain way. It's like that is all they have to offer, and they come with a certain attitude and expectations from men. Of course it's not all women, I don't want to stereotype, but it's plenty of them. That basically was the inspiration. That is what the song Pretty Loud is about. The idea to work with J Boog came from my manager Wendy. We were talking about him and his accomplishments in reggae on the international front, and she suggested him for the record, and yeah he delivered as expected, his voice just fit in perfect. It's one of my favorite collaborations. I get to introduce him to my audience, and i get to know his audience. We give thanks. "
Distributed by IDC, "Pretty Loud" will be available on February 9th, is now purchasablle as a pre-order smarturl.it/IoctaneJboog
"As a fan of reggae music, i have long admired and actually been a fan myself of I-Octane. I've had the pleasure of working with some great artists and now I can count him among those names. What makes it sweeter is not only our collaboration, but the fact that we will perform it together when he joins my L.O.E tour in Cali. One Love" - J Boog

Jah9’s epic 2017 hit “Hardcore” remix featuring Chronixx now has a visual to accompany the raw, powerful tune. The original version featured on her September 2016 album “9” was remixed by reggae marvel Chronixx in March 2017 and later featured on VP Records annual compilation “Reggae Gold 2k17”. Released today, the video comes shortly after Jah9’s mini Brazil tour which wrapped up on January 7th. Prior to that, she completed a brief Northeast American tour with stops in Boston, New York and Vermont.
Filmed in São Paulo, Brazil by director Premier King, the video features Jah9 in various parts of the city with an all-female crew. Additional footage was shot in California by All Eyes On It. Reggae marvel Chronixx, who is currently nominated for a Grammy for Best Reggae album joins Jah9 in the primary scene atop a city rooftop. The video features a combination of soft, vibrant nature backdrops integrated with the gritty elements of the streets, emphasizing the melodic yet brazen energy of the song.
“It was a long awaited pleasure for me to make my first visit to South America and Brazil,” said Jah9. This has been calling to me for some time now and I was honored to connect with so many beautiful spirits and have the opportunity to work with some of the best local talent.” On meeting the director, Jah9 states, “we were fans of his work before we met him so when Premier King reached out about collaborating in Brazil it was just a matter of what song to choose. We are very happy with product of this collaboration and with all the seeds we were able to plant in Brazil.

VPAL Music is proud to present the NEW face of Techniques Records, Jambian Music.
There are a few things in life that are certain...the future, growth and change. Techniques Records was the brain child of the late Winston Riley. Though he was the face of the label, behind-the-scenes his sons Kurt "DJ Kurt Riley" & Andre "DJ Dre Stylez" Riley were adding their own flavor. The pair reached international success with Charly Black's Gyal You A Party Animal (Jambe-An Riddim 2014).
"All I can say is Beres Beres Beres" states, Kurt . after a spirit-filled recording session. He explains that the experience was life changing as Beres Hammond recorded not one but two songs and encouraged them to cut their own path in the industry. "He is the real M.A.N. and there's NO argument in that!", laughed Kurt.
Buckle up as they take you into the next generation of music. Great tunes, great production with more Reggae and Dancehall fusions for the next generation of music heads. Like their father, they plan to cement their names in music history. -words courtesy VP Records
