Morgan Heritage - Avrakedabra

The 60th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on January 28, 2018. Reggae fans are well versed in the Marley's capability to capture a global audience making them high contenders for a Grammy on a yearly basis.

'Chronology' has already solidified itself as a multi-genre album with Reggae overtones and one drop rhythms throughout and by this author's projection, will be a cornerstone of reggae music in the next decade.

Common Kings and J Boog perform to a younger, festival going fan base well versed in their discography and can sing every song word for word. The introduction of streaming statistics into Billboard chartings has helped these artists immensely.

The Royal Family of Reggae has been traversing the globe for decades and has been able to 'digitize' their music with EDM and Dubstep elements. Morgan Heritage won the Best Reggae Album Grammy last year with 'Strictly Roots'

Best luck to all nominees

Sierra Nevada World Music Festival Complete lineup [by Day]

The 3rd Tier of Artist Announcements have been made for this year's SNWMF. The lineup is the best of summer and will be talked about for years to come.

Old-School Reggae lovers get Horace Andy, Third World, Barrington Levy, Lee Scratch Perry, Keith & Tex and the Reggae Revival fans get to see Tarrus Riley, Chronixx, Gappy Ranks, Exco Levi, and more.

About the festival:

The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival promotes "conscious" music. Conscious music is music with a message of peace and unity, which transcends the divisions of race and culture.

Over the past twenty three years we have endeavored to build a community where Conscious music, Roots music, and World music is embraced. Where bringing diverse people from many lands together in celebration yields more than just the sum of each individual present, but something much grander. At SNWMF people experience a unique sense of unity and belonging, a semi-utopian moment in time where love, generosity, joy and innocence can be reclaimed. We believe that music has the power to move mountains and change paradigms, and the phenomenal artists who have graced SNWMF stages over the past decade have imparted an overwhelmingly Positive force.

Munga Arrested on Murder Charges

Colloquially known as the 'Gangsta Ras', Munga has been charged with the murder. it is rumored that the victim is Mr. Vegas' nephew.

Munga Honorable is currently in police custody after cops named him as a person of interest in a murder case.
The dancehall deejay has maintained his innocence, but cops say they are probing a recent killing that they believe that the artist is linked to. “He is not worried,” Munga attorney Christopher Townsend said. “Of course, custody can be a little bit uncomfortable and he has indicated how uncomfortable he is, but he believes that in the end he will certainly be vindicated,” he said. My client maintains that he has nothing to hide and he has cooperated fully with the police. No charges have been brought against him and he is looking forward to returning to his music that he loves so much.”
Senior superintendent in charge of the St Andrew South Division, Arthur Brown, confirmed that Munga is currently in custody but no charges have been laid against him up until the time of this publication. Brown says that the “Flippin Rhymes” deejay is only a person of interest at this time. Back in 2015, Munga was attacked and chopped several times with a machete, but he released a statement calling for peace.
“Me close brethren send me a message with my favourite song that I wrote tattooed on his chest as an inspiration to me, and him say, ‘don’t fight fire with fire, don’t fight darkness with darkness,’ so revenge is not my forte,” Munga said.

Ova Dweet: Riddims, Albums, and Mixtapes of 2016

One of the Top 3 Dancehall Riddims of the year anchored by Konshens with 'Bruk Off'

Randy Valentine rides the world's best Hip-Hop instrumentals from the 90's and beyond on the Rap-Tape 'Radio Music'.

This late release from Seanizzle is our favorite Riddim of the Year. The major keys with the horn lines compliment the high tempo, methodic bassline perfectly. Volume 2 of the Riddim includes Demarco, Beenie Man, Jahmiel, Nesbeth, and more

An album that we thought deserved a Grammy nod. 'Stronger' and 'Health and Strength' garnered heavy rotation for months following the release.

One of the Wickedest releases of the year! A great blend of dubplates, 45s, refixes, and skits. Standout track is 'Kabaka vs Pyramid'

The Lyrical Fyah Returns! Signature tracks include 'Dem Ago Burn' ft Capleton, 'Lyrical Fyah', and 'On My Way Home' ft Randy Valentine.

NotNice scores again with the Ova Dweet Riddim voicing Popcaan on the title track.

Favorite Mixtape of the Year

The original production of the title track for the release has enough energy to be a mixtape within itself. Later in the mix he successfully voices on Barrington Levy's classic Prison Oval Rock Riddim where he tells stories from his youth. Chronixx rides 'Sell My Gun' and 'Spirulina' in the same fashion that we remember from not long ago on songs like 'Behind Curtain'.

Chronixx announced 'Majesty' a North American Tour and album release for 2017.

Maximum Sound presents

The crew at Maximum Sound consistently puts out quality Riddim selections. The thumping baseline of the Armour Riddim was highlighted with tunes 'Picture On The Wall' by Gappy Ranks, 'We Want Better' by Tarrus Riley, and 'Yardman' by Exco Levi. The Blueberry Haze RIddim is a lovers Rock journey anchored by Randy Valentine singing 'Hold On' and Christopher Martin's 'London Girl'.

A big Lovers anthem from Romain Virgo that birthed a Riddim of the same name.

'9' was a bold, artistic, unique, and extremely powerful release from Revival songstress Jah9. An album made with meditation in mind.

favorite Compilation Release of the Year

This is a Reggae release in the fullest of the definition. Jesse Royal singing on a remake of Mikey General's 'Roots & Culture', Romain Virgo in singing a love tune in perfect key ('Unbreakable'), Christopher Martin rides a driving Reggae riddim ('This Could Be Murder'), and Agent Sasco puts 'Never Gonna Break You Down' which could have been on the  'Theory of Reggaetivity' album. All these tunes are surrounded by Silly Walks Discotheque's Riddim selections from 'Honey Pot' and 'Brighter Days'.

The brothers McGregor teamed up for a dubplate ready 'Zero Tolerance' very early in 2016.

VP Records presents 'We Remember Dennis Brown' featuring remakes of the Crown Prince of Reggae by Romain Virgo, Jah Cure, Katchafire, The Green, Jah 9, and many more.

Dancehall hitmaker Alkaline scored a massive with 'Block & Delete' and Mavado serenades about recent rewards with 'Money, Girls, & Fun'.
